Anish Kapoor’s Poetic Laboratory Accepted to International Festival of Films on Art (12/24/08)
The documentary, directed by the ICA's Branka Bogdanov, weaves together Kapoor's own words, images from his London studio, and interviews with Partha Mitter, Homi Bhabha, Mary Jane Jacob, and Chief Curator Nicholas Baume. The 27th International Festival of Films on Art will be held in Montreal March 19-29, 2009.
Tara Donovan Named a 2008 Recipient of the MacArthur “Genius” Grant (9/23/08)
Artist Tara Donovan, whose first museum survey opens at the ICA in just two weeks, was among 25 new MacArthur Fellows named by The MacArthur Foundation today. Selected for their creativity, originality, and potential to make important contributions in the future, the new Fellows work across a broad spectrum of endeavors. The Foundation cited Donovan’s “dazzling body of work that will enrich the fields of contemporary sculpture and installation art for years to come.”
Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston Shortlisted for the Inaugural World Architecture Festival Awards (7/31/08)
The ICA's design by Diller Scofidio + Renfro was among 224 buildings from 43 countries nominated for the first ever World Architecture Festival Awards. Awards will be given in 16 categories as well as a World Building of the Year at this 3-day event taking place in Barcelona, Spain, October 22 - 24. Headed by Lord Norman Foster, judging panels include noted architects such as Zaha Hadid and Richard Meier.
Core Sample, Part of Art on the Harbor Islands, Receives Prix Ars Electronica Award (6/19/08)
Teri Rueb's Core Sample, a GPS data-based audio tour exploring the history and landscape of Spectacle Island, has received a Prix Ars Electronica Award of Distinction in the Digital Musics category. The Prix Ars awards are among the most important form of international recognition in the field of art and technology.
ICA Publications Winners in American Association of Museums Design Competition (6/3/08)
Two ICA publications won awards in AAM's annual competition, which acknowledges excellence in the graphic design of museum publications. The only national, juried event involving publications produced by museums of all kinds and sizes, the contest drew more than 800 entries. The ICA's program calendar won 1st Prize and New received Honorable Mention in the magazines category.
Fast Forward Graduate a Winner in National Video Contest (3/12/08)
Boston-based filmmaker Rene Dongo, a graduate of Fast Forward, the ICA's video production program for teens, was chosen as a winner in the ONE NATION, MANY VOICES national video contest. His piece "The Countdown" was selected in the Youth (Under 18 Years) category. Rene is currently studying film at Emerson College. For more about the contest or to view the film, click here.
The Making of the New ICA Selected for International Festival of Films on Art (1/3/08)
The 26th International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) will be held in Montréal March 6 - 16, 2008. The Making of the New ICA can be seen in the Poss Family Mediatheque and is available for purchase in the ICA Store.
ICA Web Site Wins 2007 MarCom Award (1/3/08)
This international awards competition recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. There were over 5,000 entries from throughout the United States and several foreign countries in the 2007 competition.
