GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Status: Contract; 40 hours per month
The ICA is seeking a Contract Graphic Designer to provide key support in realizing the visual expression of the ICA’s brand through a variety of printed materials and electronic media. This contract position (40 hours/month) is under the direction of the Principal Designer, working closely with the Creative Services Manager and Marketing team. Candidates must possess a positive attitude, and demonstrated ability to work individually and with a team. The contractor will work offsite, but attend meetings at the ICA one to two times a week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of the Lead Designer, design a variety of promotional and interpretive materials including invitations, brochures, programs, postcards, HTML e-mails, and other collateral pieces, applying ICA brand consistently and creatively—style, type, layout—across all creative executions
- Meet with clients onsite at the ICA for initial concepts and later proofing meetings, as needed
- Present concepts and proofs to Principal Designer for review and editing
- Take direction on copyedits, budget, and deadlines from Creative Services Manager
- Provide final design files to Creative Services Manager for archival purposes on ICA server
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of print design and project management in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; advanced digital design skills; knowledge of HTML required
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of design and brand managementStrong production values and techniques
- Strong background in typography
- Working knowledge of color management
- Ability to think/communicate at a conceptual level as well as at a tactical/detailed level
- Ability to work effectively on several projects, balancing tight and overlapping deadlines
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Strong communication, presentation, and organization skills
- A self-starter who proactively seeks solutions, is responsive to change, and open to feedback
