Facility Assistant/Technician

REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities and Security

POSITION STATUS: Full time, hourly: non exempt



SUMMARY

The Facility Assistant/Technician will perform tasks associated with general building operations and needs.
Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform mechanical work as required for installation and maintenance of facility management and equipment systems in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs to various mechanical and electrical equipemt as well as all air and water distribution systems, air handling units, fan coil units, CAC, fans, motors, dampers, VAV, chilled water and hot water system pumps, control and sanitary systems, life safety, potable and domestic water systems, as well as associated equipment, including but not limited to belt adjustment, oil changes, filter changes, and equipment bearing greasing.
  • Re-lamping of electrical fixtures
  • Perform daily inspections, meter reading, and equipment monitoring tours.
  • Respond to service calls and staff work orders related to mechanical electrical systems including the lighting control, security control, carpentry, and painting and furniture installations.
  • Staying abreast of equipment changes and facility management best practices.
  • Actsas a supervisor to ICA facility vendors and owner representative in the absence of the Director of Facilities and Security.
  • Supervise and address the support needs of special events, both internal and external, supervising the event setup/set down crews and facilities event technicians and event support vendors.
  • Respond to building emergencies
  • Conduct general housekeeping of mechanical and electrical areas
  • Complete work in accordance with all applicable codes and ICA policies.
  • Assist the Chief Preparator with art arrivals, de-crating, set ups, housing, installing and de-installations.
  • Ability to perform carpentry and painting tasks in relationship to the building and art set ups.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma required; college and/or trade school, HVAC, or electrical training preferred.
  • Valid Mass driver’s license required
  • Candidates without a technical degree should have 5–7 years of experience; candidates with a technical degree should have 1–3 years of experience
  • Must possess strong technical, math, computer, software, reasoning, and logistcal skills.
  • Proficiency in balancing multiple projects and solving technical problems, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Candidate must posess clear communication skills while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to work well independently and with a group, while exhibiting initiative
  • Willingness to plan and schedule projects while exhibiting quality workmanship and providing a safe environment for personnel and visitors.
  • Flexibility with regard to work days and hours; candidate is often on call and must be available at any time.
  • Candidate must meet physical demands such as heavy lifting; use of ladders; overhead work, including in lifts and genies; as well as standing, kneeling, and bending for long periods
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in noisy environments
