Internship (Fall 2013)

 

OVERVIEW

The Marketing & Communications department at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated intern for the fall 2013 season. Gain valuable experience in the realm of marketing, communications and public relations at one of the nation’s most exciting art museums. Part-time, 16-20 hours per week. This internship is unpaid.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Marketing & Communications Intern will be responsible for a broad range of tasks including but not limited to:

    • Maintaining a media database
    • Tracking the ICA’s media coverage
    • Maintaining department records and files
    • Facilitating donation requests for community fundraisers
    • Distributing press releases and images for the museum’s exhibitions
    • Assisting with press receptions and previews
    • Assisting with marketing initiatives and special programming including First Fridays
    • Assisting with marketing partnerships with tourist operators and hotels
    • Researching social media and other online marketing opportunities
    • Greeting visitors and obtaining email addresses for visitor experience surveys
    • Assisting the department with general inquiries and requests as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

 The ideal candidate should have demonstrated computer skills and a general familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher), strong written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to work independently. An interest in public relations, marketing or related fields a plus; some college preferred.
