Internship

Family Programs & Education

Supervision
Interns will work under the supervision of Kathleen Lomatoski, the Family Program and Art Lab Coordinator with the opportunity to assist, lend creativity and participate in a variety of ways.  Interns will also assist Krista Dahl, Museum Education Associate, with a minimum of one-to-two hours of administrative projects weekly and they will assist other Education and Programs department staff including the Manager of Tour Guides and Interpretation as well as the Associate Director of Education and Teen Programs as necessary. On occasion projects from other museum departments may require intern assistance. Any questions or concerns during the internship should be addressed directly with Kathleen Lomatoski in a timely manner.

Hours and attendance
Fall, winter and spring interns will be required to work a minimum of six (6) hours per week, plus at least six (6) hours on most Play Date Saturdays. Interns may be asked to work in teams (on a rotating basis) to staff activities in The Bank of America Art Lab during times of peak visitor attendance (these include Thursday evening from 6-8pm, and Saturday/Sunday from 12-3pm) or to work in the galleries during these (or other) hours to assist visitors with questions about the art.

If anything comes up that interferes with pre-established internship hours, it is the responsibility of the intern to contact Kathleen Lomatoski in a timely and professional way. With advance notice, interns may be excused for advance plans to be out of town, vacation time or time with family during holidays. Time off for maintaining good health is always granted with the expectation that the intern will be responsible and honest when taking sick time. As is humanly possible, it is preferred that any absences or internship hours missed be made-up in subsequent weeks.

*Play Date Saturdays are held on the last Saturday of every month except for December.
