Position: Membership Intern – Summer 2010
Department: Individual Giving
Supervisor: Membership Sales and Service Associate
Work Schedule: 12-16 hours per week / Must be able to work Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons and some evenings. Schedule TBD
Number of Openings: 1
Compensation: Unpaid

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The ICA’s Membership department is responsible for all aspects of cultivation, maintenance, and promotion of membership benefits as well as member relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Membership intern would be asked to commit to working 2-4 days a week. This time will be spent either in the lobby or in the offices. Activities may include:

  • Greeting visitors in the lobby while introducing Membership
  • Facilitating easy member entry to the galleries during busy hours
  • Help with weekly Membership mailings
  • Other administrative duties may include photocopying and work in Excel
  • Research benefits at other national museums and local membership organizations
  • Find/research ways to solicit students at Universities
  • Act as a "Membership Concierge" on Thursday nights.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates should have: strong oral and written communications skills; a professional, welcoming presence in person and over the phone, strong organizational skills; attention to detail; demonstrated visitor/customer service experience; interest or experience in Development or Membership related fields a plus; some college experience preferred.
