Lee’s photographic documents blend aspects of self-portraiture, photojournalism, and performance art into a quasi-sociological exercise. Lee’s conceptual framework involves documenting herself in relation to a multiple cultural and ethnic contexts, disregarding the technical virtuosity of the photographic medium in favor of a spontaneous “snap-shot” style.
