This work consists of eight lidded decanters, replicas of classic modernist forms, enclosed in a mirrored case. Fronted by a window of one-way glass, the space is uninterrupted by outside reflection. The objects are mirrored against the glass, and then bounced back and reflected, so that it appears to recede in endless succession. A stunning example of the culmination of several threads of McElheny’s work, the piece presents a vision of Modernism perfectly devoid
of the human aspect. Czech Modernism Mirrored and Reflected Infinitely was included in Super Vision, the ICA's inaugural exhibition in it's new, waterfront home on Nothern Avenue.
