Barry McGee–Inspired Workshop
ICA featured artist Barry McGee incorporates a variety of inspirations in his art, such as graffiti, comics, sign painting, and other references to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Explore McGee’s creative process in this hands-on morning workshop led by San Francisco–schooled artist Anthony Barrows. After visiting the galleries with ICA’s Director of Education Monica Garza, participants will create their own urban-inspired work of art in a workshop led by Barrows using materials and techniques familiar to McGee.
Anthony Barrows studied printmaking techniques at the San Francisco Art Institute, where McGee also studied. Barrows has led workshops in lettering, mural painting and printmaking throughout the country.
No previous experience required. An additional hour is added for educators, from 10:15 AM to 1:15 PM
Workshop participants receive a 10% discount at the Water Café on the day of the program. Excludes alcoholic beverages.
Advance registration required for all workshops; purchase below, or call 617.478.3103. A limited number of full scholarships are available for Boston Public School teachers with advance registration. For more information, contact Leah Kandel at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-478-3136.
