A Step Ahead

    

Celebrate May with a tour of the ICA neighborhood led by Boston by Foot! Enjoy lunch on the ICA Grandstand, visit the galleries, catch a dance/theater performance by Boston City Lights at 1:30 PM, then wrap things up with a creative twist in the Bank of America Art Lab. Art-making activities are led by visiting artists; participants may also make sketches outdoors overlooking Boston Harbor.

ART-MAKING ACTIVITIES
Activities recommended for children 6 and older with an adults, but all ages are welcome! Materials provided; first-come, first-served

Make Your Own Binoculars
10:30 AM–1:30 PM 
State Street Corporation Lobby

Visit the 4th-floor galleries for some artistic inspiration then use colored tape and acetate to create your very own, unique viewing devices! 

Sign Making
11:00 AM–4:00 PM 
Bank of America Art Lab

Visit the 4th floor to see the Barrry McGee exhibition then sketch your ideas for your own sign. Try your hand using a variety of materials and tools in the Bank of America Art Lab, and if you prefer, your final work may be displayed until September 2! Ask a staff member for details.

ICA Grandstand (weather permitting) or Founder's Gallery 

Join us for sketching activities using your imagination, or the stunning views of Boston Harbor for inspiration.

ICA Family Programs Youth Performance Series:
City Lights
1:30 PM | Doors open at 1:15 PM

Don't miss a performance by this Boston youth group led by artist Duggan Hill. Following the performance adults and children are invited on stage for a master class with the dancers! 
 


NEIGHBORHOOD TOURS LED BY BOSTON-BY-FOOT
Meet in the State Street Corporation Lobby
Tours depart at 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM (weather permitting)
Space is limited; tours last 20–35 minutes (families have the option to depart after 20 minutes or to continue on)

Poss Family Mediatheque
While you’re here, take a chance to check out the Mediatheque! This learning space allows visitors to delve deeper into the ICA’s history, architecture, and current exhibitions. It also provides a contemplative space to think and talk about what you’ve seen in the galleries. Computer content changes based on current exhibitions. Now on view: a slideshow and documentary about the ICA, as well as educatoinal materials about Barry McGee.*
