Play Date: If You Build It...
Take a closer look at the architecture and design of the inside-out and upside-down ICA museum building. Then imagine, draw, and build your own small-scale models in the Bank of America Art Lab. A short program of films related to architecture will be shown in the theater at 1 and 3 pm.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Books and Art | 10 am – Noon
Take a look at our collection of architecture books with your family and enjoy an interactive reading/looking session at 10:45 or 11:15. This activity is best for ages 3-10 with adults.
Draw, Design and Construct | 11 am – 4 pm
Step into the Bank of America Art Lab to create small-scale 3D models of buildings you’d like to see in your neighborhood, town or in the city of Boston. This activity is best for ages 6 and older with adult support.
Film Screenings | 1 pm + 3 pm
Don’t miss a selection of short films for families related to architecture and design, including Roberto the Insect Architect, Taka's Treehouse, and Djenne Mosque in Mali. This program is best for children ages 6 and older.
In the Galleries | 10 am – 5 pm
The ICA Galleries are always open from 10 am to 5 pm on Play Date Saturdays. Share your ideas, opinions and questions with our Visitor Assistants and learn more about the art and artists at your own pace.
All activities are for children and adults to do together and are best suited for ages 6 and older, but all ages are welcome.
