Play Date: Making and Moving
Spend the day exploring artistic expression and art-making with your family. David Parker and the Bang Group return to the Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater with a brand new take on The Wizard of Oz in which audience members will be invited onstage to follow their own yellow brick roads. Families may bring a new pair of children’s socks to be distributed locally via Cradles to Crayons.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Sculpting Flowers | 11 am – 4 pm
Choose from colorful mixed materials. Create flowers to add to our Flower Web Wall or to take away with you. This activity is intended for all ages.
Making Webs | 11 am – 4 pm
This project is intended for all ages, and will be offered along the Vivien and Alan Hassenfeld Harborway, weather permitting.
Sketching | 11 am – 4 pm
Record your view of Boston Harbor or sketch from your imagination. This project will be offered on the Vivien and Alan Hassenfeld Harborway, weather permitting. All materials are provided; all ages are welcome.
Performance | 1:30 pm
David Parker and the Bang Group perform new work inspired by the Wizard of Oz in the Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater. This performance will include opportunities for visitors of all ages to step on stage and try dance moves led by artists from the Bang Group. Free tickets are required and may be picked up at the Family Programs information table in the State Street Corporation Lobby one hour prior to performance start time.
The ICA Galleries are always open from 10 am to 5 pm on Play Date Saturdays. Share your ideas, opinions and questions with our Visitor Assistants (always dressed in black!) and learn more about the art and artists at your own pace from our roaming ICA tour guides in the galleries from 2 to 4 pm.
