Play Date: What Makes a Painting?
Hear family-geared talks by local artists in the collection exhibition, Expanding the Field of Painting, then create your own paintings, assisted by visiting artist Cathy McLaurin, in the Bank of America Art Lab. Related films will be shown at 1:00 and 2:30 pm. Families are encouraged to bring along large reusable bags to carry home art projects.

Take a closer look at our current exhibitions: Expanding the Field of Painting, Mary Reid Kelley and Steve Locke: there is no one left to blame.
11 am – 4 pm
Use fabric and sculpting materials to create unique 'paintings' with visiting artist Cathy McLaurin in the Bank of America Art Lab. This activity is best for children ages 6 and older together with adults. Space is limited and available first come, first served.
Noon – 4 pm
Intended for all ages, this activity will be located on the Grandstand, weather permitting or in the State Street Corporation Lobby.
1 pm and 2:30 pm
Films about Painting
Enjoy a program of lively, short films featuring artists and ways of painting that might surprise you, including Live Action Light Painting, Water Light Graffiti, Sweatshoppe Video Painting and more! Located in the Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater on the 3rd floor.
