International Animation Festival
Showcasing several outstanding films from the 2012 Ottawa International Animation Festival, this presentation features audience favorites and award winners from the official competition. The collection of short animated works promises a little something for everyone. Highlights include Carlo Vogele’s tragicomic Una Furtiva Lagrima, Hisko Hulsing’s stunning grand-prize winner Junkyard, and the hilarious crowd favorite, I Am Tom Moody.

Rossignols en Décembre (Nightingales in December) by Theodore Ushev (2011, Canada, 3:00 min.) This metaphorical tale takes viewers on a surreal journey into memory and reality. What if nightingales didn't sing or fly south?
Rivière au Tonnerre (Thunder River) by Pierre Hebert (2011, Canada, 7:56 min.) A meditation about a rockface near the waterfalls of Rivière au tonnerre, on the North Shore of the St-Lawrence river.

Junkyard by Hisko Hulsing (2012, Netherlands, Belgium, 18:00 min.) A man is robbed and stabbed by a junkie. In the final moments before his death, a memory of his young friendship flashes before his eyes. He and this childhood friend grew apart, as the latter was drawn into the dangerous world of drugs.
Una Furtiva Lagrima by Carlo Vogele (2011, Luxembourg, US, 3:08 min.) This short films follows the journey of a fish who carries his deathsong from his sale at the fishmarket into his end in a frying pan.
