SHORT FILM PROGRAM: NEW ENGLAND ANIMATORS

A TALE OF TWO TWINS by Yuanjian Luo

A Tale of Two Twins by Yuanjian Luo (5:00, 2010). A story book reveals the incredible tale of a pair of identical twins--who, after one of them embarks on an intergalactic journey at near the speed of light--age at vastly different rates. Intrigued by the seemingly impossible situation, the narrators invite the audience into a lively dialogue about relativity concepts, such as time dilation and nonequivalent reference frames responsible for Albert Einstein’s famous yet enigmatic Twin Paradox.

Yuanjian Luo stumbled upon creating animation quite accidentally. He considers himself a "kid" still enthralled by the encapsulating power of animated film. He received a healthy dose of cartoons during his childhood in China and adolescence in Los Angeles, and is still fascinated by how easily cartoon characters come to life. He is currently a rising junior at Harvard University.
