SHORT FILM PROGRAM: NEW ENGLAND ANIMATORS
CAROLINA SHOUT by Luke Jaeger
Carolina Shout by Luke Jaeger (4 min., 2011). The latest in a series of Jaeger's "antique music videos" is set to a 1921 composition by jazz pioneer James P. Johnson, an originator of the Harlem Stride piano style. The animation reflects the multi-leveled, over-the-top delight and frantic silliness of this amazing musical performance.
Luke Jaeger grew up in Brooklyn and attended Yale University; the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and Massachusetts College of Art. His animated films have been shown in festivals and theaters worldwide.
