SHORT FILM PROGRAM: NEW ENGLAND ANIMATION

ECHOING SPACES by Dennis Miller

Echoing Spaces by Dennis Miller (9:10, 2009). The work explores a number of virtual environments in which the primary elements echo both in immediate succession and at different times throughout the piece, always in varied form. The visual imagery employs a number of similarly shaped elements that appear in overlapping, morphing configurations, while the restricted color palette helps maintain a focus on the primary objects.

Dennis Miller received his Doctorate in Music Composition from Columbia University and is currently on the Music faculty of Northeastern University in Boston where he teaches electronic music and mixed-media composition. Miller is the founder and artistic director of the Visual Music Marathon (www.2009vmm.neu.edu), an ongoing program that includes screenings of works by filmmakers from around the world. Miller's mixed media works have been presented at numerous venues throughout the world.
