SHORT FILM PROGRAM: NEW ENGLAND ANIMATORS

HELIOTROPES by Michael Langan

Heliotropes by Michael Langan (3:13, 2010). Adapted from the poem by writer Brian Christian, Heliotropies documents the parallel goals of man and nature--through the most primitive and sophisticated means--to simply stay in the light.

Michael Langan is an experimental filmmaker and commercial director. His works have screened at more than 100 film festivals worldwide garnering top awards, including a Student Academy Award nomination for his 2007 film Doxology. In 2010 he was named an "IFC Icon" for innovation in film and video, featured in the Saatchi New Directors Showcase at the Cannes Lions, and selected as one of “10 animators poised to become household names” by Variety.
