Wavelengths: Mas Ysa

The project of composer Thomas Arsenault, Mas Ysa combines love songs, ecstatic pop, field recordings, and techno into mournful but danceable folk. Peripatetic Montreal native Arsenault studied composition at Oberlin and lived in Saõ Paulo and San Francisco before landing in Brooklyn, where he built a recording studio and worked with choreographer Rashaun Mitchell. Mas Ysa tours widely and recently released a melancholy debut EP, recorded after Arsenault relocated to Woodstock, New York.

Opening act: André Obin

For André Obin, genre-bending and shape-shifting are standard fare; taking risks is part of the fun. As a musician, singer and producer, André draws inspiration for his songs from a deep emotional well. The results can be as dark as a forest under a new moon or as bright as a summer sun reflecting off the skyscrapers of a bustling city.
