Gregory Williams on Amy Sillman
Amy Sillman’s wry sense of humor emerges in her artwork, from her cartoons to her oil paintings. Gregory Williams, Assistant Professor of the History of Art and Architecture at Boston University, speaks to humor and more in Sillman’s work. Williams has written extensively on the comedic in modern art, including the book Permission to Laugh: Humor and Politics in Contemporary German Art (University of Chicago Press, 2012).
