You've probably heard that Perfect is the enemy of Good. It may also be the enemy of Good Design. Our digital tools are calibrated for perfection, but we've sacrificed the human touch, the indelible beauty of handmade elements that derive from our own mortal limitations.
Joshua Chen, founder, principal, and creative director of Chen Design Associates in San Francisco, is author of Fingerprint: The Art of Using Handmade Elements in Graphic Design and Fingerprint No. 2: The Evolution of Handmade Elements in Graphic Design. In this program, Josh will argue that a critical eye, an open heart, and willing hands comprise an Imperfect Storm of creativity that awes through its flaws.
