JASON WU IN CONVERSATION
Fashion designer Jason Wu creates clothing with old-world sophistication and modern feminine sensibility. Born in Taipei, Wu has lived in Vancouver, Paris, and the US, infusing a worldly and eclectic sensibility to his designs. He started his own label in 2006, and was praised by Vogue editor Anna Wintour as a rising talent.
Only 26 years old he designed the gown First Lady Michelle Obama wore to the 2009 Inaugural Ball, he was again commissioned to create the stunning red velvet and chiffon design she wore this year, covered in the Fashion & Style section of The New York Times. The First Lady was seen again recently wearing a Jason Wu designs during President Obama's State of the Union Address.
The recipient of numerous accolades, including the 2010 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear, Jason Wu joins Helen Molesworth, Barbara Lee Chief Curator, for a discussion about Wu's career, vision, and sense of style.
