Steve Locke on Figuring Color
“Steve Locke is a Boston painter beloved by local curators for how he wields a brush and his tart take on life” (The Boston Globe). Locke shares his perspective on select works on view in Figuring Color: Kathy Butterly, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Roy McMakin, Sue Williams, and discusses his own process of incorporating color into paintings, drawings, and personal correspondence.
Artist Steve Locke has been featured in various international solo exhibitions in Basel, Sao Paolo, and Boston to name a few. His work has been recognized with awards from the LEF Foundation and Art Matters Foundation. Locke has received multiple degrees in business administration and fine arts from Boston University, Massachusetts College of Art and Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. He is an Assistant Professor of art education at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
