About the Convening
From August 11-13, the ICA hosted the 2010 Teen Convening, bringing together seven of the most innovative teen arts organizations in the country for a nationwide exchange of ideas among key teen leaders and their museum educators.

Participants include the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, the Seattle Art Museum, the Contemporary Art Center of New Orleans, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Marwen in Chicago, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, and The Bronx Museum of the Arts.

Through a series of live and online forums, the 2010 Teen Convening addresses the role of museums in the lives of young people, including the place of the museum in arts education, teen leadership opportunities, civic engagement, and the museum as a “safe place” for teens to explore ideas of self and identity.
