Join the ICA on a trip to New York City with Senior Curator Jenelle Porter!



ITINERARY

Friday, March 1

3:00–5:00 PM: Visit to the New Museum
Devoted exclusively to exhibiting contemporary art, the New Museum is one of the most vibrant New York City museums. The visit will include a special tour of the new exhibition NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star, led by the exhibition curator.

8:00 PM: Dinner at EN Japanese Brasserie
Consistently praised in foodie publications for their “top ten” dishes, EN takes a modern approach to the rich traditions of Japanese cooking. Guests will be treated to a private dinner at this beautiful, authentic Japanese restaurant located in the West Village.


Saturday, March 2

10:30 AM: Matthew Ritchie Studio Visit
In 2001, Time Magazine named Ritchie one of the 100 innovators for the new millennium for exploring the “unthinkable or the not-yet-thought.” During this studio visit, Ritchie will discuss his most recent work in dialogue with Jenelle Porter, including his upcoming project at the ICA.

12:00 PM: Lunch at Bouley Restaurant
Chef David Bouley—a James Beard Foundation award-winning chef—will design a three-course seasonal tasting menu for guests to enjoy in the The Red Room, the private dining room within his French-inspired Tribeca restaurant.

2:00 PM: Arlene Shechet Studio Visit
Considered one of the most important artists working in the ceramic medium today, Arlene Shechet will offer insight into the process behind her intelligent and intriguing sculpture.

3:30 PM: Kathy Butterly Studio Visit
Featured in the ICA’s exhibition Figuring Color, Kathy Butterly is known for her stunning, sensual ceramic sculptures. During this intimate visit in her home studio, Kathy joins Jenelle Poter for a discussion about the inspirations behind the artist's renowned works.

5:00–6:30 PM: Wine and Cheese at SD26
Reflect on all you have experienced at one of New York’s hippest wine bars, SD26. Surrounded by the stunning site-specific fiber art of Shelia Hicks, guests will enjoy wine, cheese and conversation.

The cost of the trip is $1,000 per person, including all of the above activities, plus a $250 tax-deductible donation to the ICA. Trip participants are required to be Director’s Circle Leaders ($5,000+) or above. Please note that participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements and hotel accommodations. Space is limited to 20.
