The Event Technician works in the Facilities department and performs tasks associated with museum events and programs. The position will be responsible for event control and support, including assisting event set ups using ICA FFE (furniture, fixtures and equipment) and also rental equipment. Setting up prior to, and taking down after events; monitoring and adjusting climate control during events if required, and providing facilities support during events and programs as required. The Facility Event Technician may be asked to assess and/or repair general building operations and needs. This is a part-time, hourly position.

Note: 

  • All ICA employees are required to reside in Massachusetts or within a reasonable commuting distance from our Seaport location as of their first day of work.
  • All new hires onboarding after October 25th, 2021 will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 no later than their first day of work to be in compliance with ICA’s vaccination policy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the set up and set down for internal or external client rental events at the ICA
  • Set up FFE per directions or diagrams
  • Coordinate and collaborate with ICA vendors to assist with set up or set down event FFE and pre-cleaning of the building in readiness of an event
  • Conducts general facility maintenance in preparation for or end review of events activities
  • Completes work in accordance with all applicable codes and ICA policies
  • Completes work unsupervised and collaboratively in teams

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work varying shifts and days, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including use of ladders, overhead work, lifting a minimum of 50 lbs, standing, kneeling and bending 
  • Ability to tolerate loud noises for periods of time and use appropriate personal protective equipment to perform tasks
  • Ability to use office equipment and general mobility throughout the museum also required
  • Provides good customer skills, through communication
  • Works well unsupervised, and in teams, and exhibits initiative
  • Plan and schedule work, exhibit quality workmanship and provide a safe working environment
