The ICA invites full-time rising college juniors and seniors to apply for this paid, hybrid nine-week internship within the Education Department through the Studio Institute Arts Intern program.
The Education Intern will work closely with ICA education staff on the research, implementation, and evaluation of programs and resources for a range of learners, with a specific focus on family and youth (K-12) audiences. Throughout the summer, the Education Intern will assist with public studio programming; events for teens and families, such as Teen Night and Play Date; gallery resources for families; and other community outreach initiatives. The Education Intern will also collaborate with education staff on the research, development, and implementation of resources and programs for the ICA’s upcoming exhibitions Revival: Materials and Monumental Form and To Begin Again: Artists and Childhood. Over the course of the internship, the Education Intern will gain experience and understanding in program development and facilitation with a range of audiences as well as completing a gallery resource guide for family audiences.
The Education Intern should be studying studio art, arts education, and/or a related course of study (knowledge of contemporary art a plus) with a demonstrated interest in working with youth. Applicants should possess strong communication, research, and organizational skills and be able to work both independently and in group settings. The proposed schedule for this internship is Wednesday and Saturday 9 AM-5 PM, and Tuesday, Thursday 12-8 PM. Schedule negotiable. Spanish language fluency is a plus.
This position pays $20/hr, 28 hours a week for 9 weeks. In addition, you will receive a $500 stipend for completing the Arts Intern component of the program. Interested applicants should review application details and apply via Studio Institute Arts.
