The ICA Watershed Visitor Services Associate is a seasonal, part-time position responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all visitors by engaging visitors with artwork, monitoring the safety and security of visitors and artwork, assisting with travel to and from the ICA Watershed via water shuttle service, answering questions about the ICA and ICA Watershed, selling ICA admission tickets, promoting and selling memberships, and cashiering and cash-handling. This seasonal position runs from May 17 – September 5, and requires weekend and holiday availability.

Please note:

  • All ICA employees are required to reside in Massachusetts or within a reasonable commuting distance from our Seaport/Watershed locations as of their first day of work.
  • All ICA employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by their first day of work.

Responsibilities

  • Present a friendly and enthusiastic attitude and represent the ICA in a positive and professional manner
  • Monitor visitors in museum areas to provide smooth flow of visitation
  • Process ICA admission tickets and memberships
  • Provide general information and respond to visitors’ requests, engage feedback, and resolve issues when necessary
  • Engage the visitor’s experience by proactively interacting when appropriate, answering questions about contemporary art
  • Assist visitors with the use of water shuttle service at the Watershed dock
  • Assist with preparation and processing of group visits and tours
  • Keep abreast of exhibitions and events; attend educational and curatorial trainings as necessary
  • Set up cash drawers and make change at open, assume responsibility for all transactions performed during shift; secure cash drawers at closing
  • Follow policies and procedures set forth by the ICA Watershed reference book
  • Communicate visitor feedback and concerns to Lead Visitor Services Associate
  • Complete daily tasks as assigned by the Lead Visitor Services Associate
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess the ability to remain calm under pressure, use good judgement, and respond effectively to visitor concerns
  • Exhibit a self-starter attitude and the initiative to stay informed and on-task
  • Possess the ability to work in a team environment and on individual tasks
  • Must be able to troubleshoot issues and respond effectively during high-volume periods
  • Ability to work outdoors on the waterfront, rain or shine
  • Must be reliable, punctual, honest, and a team player with a great attitude
  • Must be available to work May 17 – September 5
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English language fluency strongly preferred

Pay rate: $18 per hour
