HAPPENING | 6–8 PM

As part of Leap Before You Look: Black Mountain College 1933-1957
In 1952, an unnamed performance, or “happening,” took place at Black Mountain College. Among the artists involved were John Cage, Merce Cunningham, and Robert Rauschenberg. Later known as Theater Piece No. 1, this event was a seminal moment in the history of art and performance. Tonight, poet and musician Damon Krukowski (Damon & Naomi, Galaxie 500) reimagines Theater Piece No. 1 with a new, original work combining prose, poetry, recorded music, live music, and dance.
