This virtual event is held on Zoom. Registration is now closed.

Join us for a virtual series in partnership with museums across the United States! We’re taking a road trip to the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico and are joined by their staff to explore ideas surrounding Caribbean identities, folklore, and rituals through the following works in our respective museum collections:

ICA/Boston
Firelei Báez, Man Without a Country (aka anthropophagist wading in the Artibonite River), 2014-15

Museum of International Folk Art
Desmond “Jim Bill” Sobers, Devil Bookman Dance Carnival Costume, 2003

About ICA Road Trip
While travel is limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the ICA has invited museum colleagues from across the country to take a closer look at one thematically connected artwork from their collection in conversation with one from ours—all virtually, of course.
