Kids rule the ICA the last Saturday of every month, when the museum fills up with fun, creative, and even zany activities for kids and adults to do together.

See the range of contemporary art on view at the ICA (and the Watershed) while enjoying kids’ gallery games, staff-led book readings, art-making projects, and harborside family yoga. Watch a dance performance (your family will be invited to participate!) and work together with other families to create a large-scale sculptural collage sharing messages of hope. Illstyle and Peace will give a lively and participatory dance performance at 1:30 PM!

Art Making

Our art making activities are all designed for kids and adults to do together. Very young children will need adult support.

  • Art Challenge: Multiple Me’s | 11 AM – 4 PM
    ICA Common Room, 1st Floor
Take a look at the painting by artist Faith Ringgold now on view in We Wanted a Revolution, then combine ideas used in making quilts with drawing and collage to create a portrait.
  • Banner Making | 11:30 AM – 4 PM
Bank of America Art Lab, 1st Floor
Don’t miss your chance to see the Wangechi Mutu Art Wall up close and from a distance. Then cut and arrange cloth shapes to create your own world map banners. Use colored yarns to show the journeys your family members have taken and add messages of hope for the world.

Performance

Dance Performance | 1:30 PM
Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater, 3rd floor
Meet Illystyle and Peace Productions, guest artists from Philadelphia, and take in a high energy dance performance exploring contemporary and traditional forms. You’ll be invited to participate!
