Kids rule the ICA the last Saturday of every month, when the museum fills up with fun, creative, and even zany activities for kids and adults to do together.

Art-Making Activities, 11 AM–4 PM
Our art making activities are all designed for kids and adults to do together. Very young children will need adult support.
 
Sketching and Drawing, 11 AM–4 PM

ICA Common Room and/or Grandstand (weatherpermitting)
Draw the view, combine elements from the view with your imagination, or create original works. All tools and materials are provided.
 
Family Watercolor Workshop: Painting Seascapes, 11 AM–4 PM

Bank of America Art Lab
Try your hand at watercolor painting alongside your family. Today’s workshops begin with a demonstration by our visiting artist then offer families the chance to make their own paintings.
 
Special Guests: The New England Aquarium, 11am-1:30pm

Upper Lobby
Meet staff educators from our community partner the New England Aquarium try activities for kids + adults together and exchange ideas about caring for our oceans, waterways and related flora and fauna.

Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater, 3rd floor
Lighthouse Keeper: The Story of Abbie Burgess
An interactive family concert based on a true story featuring musicians from the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. Lighthouse Keeper is a musical storybook that tells the true story of Abbie Burgess, the brave young girl who became famous for tending a Maine lighthouse during the greatest Noreaster of the 19th century. Featuring music by Wheaton College professor Delvyn Case and narration by Jean Danton. Appropriate for children of all ages.

Poss Family Mediatheque, 4th floor
Staff-led picture book readings invite kids and their adults to make connections to art on view and ICA architecture. Best for ages 3-7 and adults together.
 
Casual Family Tours, 2–4 PM

ICA galleries, 4th floor
Look for tour guides, wearing a lavender ASK ME button, and choose artworks to talk about together.
 
Family Pop-Up Talks, 2:30, 3 and 3:30 PM

ICA galleries, 4th floor
Staff-led discussions for kids and adults together go into depth about one work of art. Look for the big blue pillows or ask an ICA Visitor Assistant for today’s locations.

Admission is FREE for up to 2 adults per family when accompanied by children ages 12 and under. Youth 17 and under are always admitted free to the ICA. All ages welcome; programs best suited for ages 6 and older. Check back for programming details and schedules as program dates approach.
