The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for leading the Retail team, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ICA Store and management of the retail sales team, as well as the management of all aspects of online fulfillment. The Manager will partner and collaborate closely with the Director of Retail to steward the goals, initiatives and priorities of the department. This position requires onsite presence; weekend hours, evenings and holidays are required.

This is a full-time, salaried position.

Responsibilities:
Retail Management/Supervision:
- Provide leadership and modeling for the sales team by providing a high level of customer service to store visitors, a keen understanding of all ICA Store products, and a positive attitude for the store and the institution
- Oversee Retail Supervisor in all aspects of operations; ensure supervisor is trained to function as ‘manager on duty’ when needed and handle the myriad of responsibilities of the position including carrying out all store policies and procedures
- Manage retail sales team including staff recruitment, training, scheduling, conflict resolution, and performance evaluations
- Organize weekly sales meeting to keep the team abreast of sales goals, product information, and exhibition tie-ins
- Oversee team’s work for online store operations including all customer service communications and fulfillment of orders
- Assist Director of Retail in updating and maintaining online store as needed
- Coordinate special retail events (appearances & book signings, events sponsored through the Retail, Marketing, Performance, and/or Education departments)
- With Director of Retail, visually merchandise store on an ongoing basis
- Responsible for daily restock and prepare store for weekend sales on Friday, working with retail sales team to assist and implement directives
- Create ICA Store signage as needed with marketing design template
- Required to work one weekend and one evening shift (mandatory)
Administration:
- Oversee all technical aspects of the retail store hardware including Shopify/POS system, tap and chip readers and label printers; Act as main point of contact with IT for all troubleshooting needs, and train colleagues on troubleshooting these areas
- Under the direction of the Director of Retail and with the assistance of the Operations Coordinator, prepare and execute annual fiscal inventory count
- Create ongoing process documentation detailing the steps and actions required to complete the functions of this position
Qualifications:
- Three years experience as a retail manager or supervisor
- Proactive, can work well autonomously and as a team player
- Well-organized and responsible with an aptitude for problem-solving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Outgoing and welcoming with variety of Store customers including board members, donors, visitors, staff, tourists
- A team player with high level of dedication
- Understanding and appreciation for contemporary art and/or museums
- Hands-on experience with Shopify POS a plus
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Familiarity with inventory procedures
- Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced and busy environment
- Comfort interacting with people all day
- Ability to work collegially, professionally and collaboratively with a diverse group of constituents including staff, visitors, and vendors
- Availability to meet the requirements of working weekends, evenings, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of remaining stationary working on a computer, standing and/or moving about in the museum store and throughout building
- Ability to see, listen, and talk for extended periods in person, over the telephone and computer, and understand printed materials
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, load and unload, push and pull
- Ability to move about in the office spaces and store to access files, printers, office equipment, etc.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with departments, and with diverse and multigenerational staff and visitors

Starting Compensation: $52,000.00 Annually
Starting compensation is based on meeting minimum qualifications.
Each ICA position has a job grade based on the position’s evaluated job responsibilities, required education and experience, needed skills to perform the job, and professional knowledge.
The position’s grade and respective compensation range is determined by the position’s overall responsibilities, including decision making, supervisory/management requirements, resource management and budgeting duties.
Compensation is ultimately determined by the scope of the position and responsibilities, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity, with starting salaries typically falling in the lower half of the compensation range.
