ICA Artist Prize: Laylah Ali

Ali's Greenheads series of gouaches were exhibited in recognition of her receiving the 2000 ICA Artist Prize. Ali's works could be seen as innocent cartoons, but upon closer inspection, they uncover a disturbing world of race and power struggles, simultaneously complex, ambiguous, and open-ended.
