Contemporary Connections is a workshop for teachers from the Veneto region of Italy, a collaboration between the ICA and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection on the occasion of the 59th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia.

The central themes of this workshop—form, identity, and power—grow out of connections between Simone Leigh: Sovereignty, other works featured in La Biennale di Venezia, and art on view in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection; they are useful for engaging with many contemporary artworks.

Inspired by this workshop, we are inviting people to ask themselves: What is your message of power?
