Recreating Rope Piece

In 1969, the artist Robert Rohm showed a work called Rope Piece at the Whitney Museum of American Art in an exhibition titled Anti-Illusion: Procedures/Materials. After the exhibition, Rope Piece was destroyed. Jenelle Porter, Mannion Family Senior Curator at the ICA, discovered the work while researching Fiber: Sculpture 1960–present and worked with Rohm’s estate and a group of students and faculty from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design to bring it back to life at the ICA.
