An artful take on the book club, ICA Reads connects contemporary literature with art on view at the museum, now in partnership with local literary organizations GrubStreet and Mass LEAP. This year’s featured book is Tell Me How It Ends: An Essay in Forty Questions by award-winning author Valeria Luiselli. Nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award, this “deceptively slim volume” (NPR) about children fleeing to the United States from Central America is a “powerful call to action and to empathy” (Kirkus Review). Read the book, download our discussion guide connecting the book to works on view such as Wangechi Mutu’s A Promise to Communicate, and meet the author at the ICA.
