Cast & Collaborators

Amidst the isolation and racial uprisings in the early summer of 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic continued its spread, 44 current and former company members came together (while being apart) to create something as a community in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. At the center of this virtual presentation is a recreation of Arnie Zane’s Continuous Replay, an iconic work which was originally a duet and a solo. In 1991, three years after Arnie’s passing at the height of the AIDS pandemic, Bill T. Jones made Arnie’s choreography into a full company work. Continuous Replay has connected generations of company members and was, for most of them,  the only way to know Arnie. The diverse cast of performers spanning four decades—including Arthur Aviles, Sean Curran, Odile Reine-Adelaide, Stefanie Batten Bland, Rosalynde LeBlanc, Heidi Latsky, Jenna Riegel, and many others—filmed themselves while in isolation across four continents. The original soundtrack is created by composer John Oswald and editing of the videos was done by Associate Artistic Director Janet Wong.

The performance stream will benefit three remarkable organizations – Black Strategy Fund, The Brotherhood/ Sister Sol, and Buy From A Black Woman. The stream begins with a conversation between Bill T. Jones and Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and will be joined by the directors of the three organizations, Patrisse Cullors, Khary Lazarre-White, and Nikki Porcher. The event will culminate with the premiere of Continuous Replay: Come Together. 100% of the donations collected through November 27 through this event will go to the three organizations.

Black Strategy Fund
Established by Black Lives Matter Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors, the Black Strategy Fund is dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people by building a community focused on transformative leadership, strategy development, direct action organizing, and advocacy. The fund pays for technical support, capacity building, thought partnership, and strategic communications support for individuals and groups leading divest/invest movements across the country.

The Brotherhood/ Sister Sol
The Brotherhood/Sister Sol is a Black-led social justice organization that for 25 years has worked to respond to inequality, to train young people to become empowered as social change agents, and to work to expand a vision of equity, racial and economic justice. Through innovative wrap-around programming and intensive mentoring, Bro/Sis empowers young people to develop an analysis of social justice, community, and transformation through an exploration of identity, political education, and love. In addition, the organization works to seek broad policy change with regards to three main issues: oppressive policing and an unequal criminal justice system; environmental justice issues including providing a farmers’ market in our community, one fresh food deprived; and issues of educational access for economically poor children from Black and brown communities.

Buy From a Black Woman
Black Women have been leading the numbers when it comes to starting a business…but annual sales for Black women business wwners are five times smaller than all women-owned businesses due to lack of support and awareness. Since 2016, Buy From a Black Woman has empowered, educated, and inspired Black Women business owners and the people who support them, ensuring that Black women have the tools and resources that will allow them to be successful. Through educational programs, an online directory, grants and scholarships, Buy From a Black Woman continues to grow as a trusted resource that helps Black women in business.
