“American education and popular media have taught: Indigenous people have largely disappeared, their way of life incompatible with the modern world.” —Joseph Lee, Aquinnah Wampanoag author of Nothing More of This Land (2025)

Presented alongside the exhibition An Indigenous Present in partnership with the North American Indian Center of Boston (NAICOB), Here We Stay includes photographs and stories from some of the more than 11,000 Indigenous people who continue to contribute, innovate, and thrive in Greater Boston.

About NAICOB

The North American Indian Center of Boston’s mission is to empower the Native American community with the goal of improving the quality of life of Indigenous peoples. NAICOB was originally established in 1969 as the Boston Indian Council, when it served as the hub of social and civil rights activities for the American Indian/Alaska Native and First Nations urban Indian community in Boston. Since its reorganization as the North American Indian Center of Boston in 1991, it has provided a wide range of cultural, social, educational, and professional services to Native peoples in the Commonwealth.
