Overview: The Communications and Marketing Temp supports the development and execution of effective communications and marketing campaigns that engage audiences for the ICA. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role assists in creating content for the ICA’s social media channels, coordinating the content calendar, producing compelling institutional eNews, updating the website, and tracking KPIs and performance metrics. This position contributes to the production of a wide range of marketing materials, with a strong emphasis on social media content, website, and email. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who works across museum departments to ensure consistent, on-brand messaging and visual representation. Drawing on knowledge of contemporary art, this individual uses strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills to enhance the ICA’s marketing and communications efforts and expand engagement across diverse audience segments. The hands-on work will be conducted across the ICA campus at all three ICA sites, Seaport Museum, Seaport Studio and Watershed (East Boston location).

WORKING AT THE ICA:
- All ICA employees are required to reside in Massachusetts and within commuting distance from our Seaport location as of the first day of work.
- The ICA offers the flexibility of a hybrid work week, which averages three days a week onsite for employees who are eligible to work remotely (subject to change, and at managers discretion).
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day-to-day activities within the department to successfully advance the ICA’s marketing and communications strategy and goals
- Assist in the development and execution of multi-platform content development for exhibitions, events, educational programs, ICA Store, and other institutional initiatives, including copy and asset generation, ensuring content is on brand and in ICA style
- Assist Director of Communications with brainstorming, ideating, and developing compelling branded social media content, both videos and static posts, to further engagement, storytelling and audience connection.
- Help build events and content on icaboston.org and assist with general web content maintenance
- Help plan, format, and execute ICA eNews to support the overall marketing strategy for exhibitions, programs, membership, and other initiatives.
- Assist with monthly First Friday events, press previews, photoshoots, and other museum events as required
- Assist in marketing asset organization and upkeep, including selecting “best-of” images and writing alt-text
- Capture video footage at the museum (onsite) for social media, collaborating with the Director of Communications for usage
- Produce and edit vertical video content for social media
- Upload content to Bloomberg Connects, YouTube, and other digital platforms as needed
- Support the Director of Communications in tracking the performance of marketing campaigns and social media activities, providing reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Support the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer with administrative tasks and other duties as needed.

Qualifications:
- Must have exceptional communication (oral and written) skills, social media fluency, attention to detail, and creative thinking
- Video editing and basic graphic design experience required
- Demonstrated computer skills and experience using MS Office suite, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Premiere (or equivalent)
- Exceptional communication (oral and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with staff and other constituents.
- Strong interest in marketing, museums, and contemporary art
- Ability to work collegially, professionally, and collaboratively with a diverse group of constituents, including staff, visitors, and vendors
- Some nights or weekends may be required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of remaining stationary working on a computer, or standing during events, photo shoots, and media coverage.
- Ability to move about in the office to access files, printers, etc., and in the gallery spaces to work with media outlets.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling, keyboarding and gripping
- Ability to see, listen and talk for extended periods in person, over the telephone and computer, and understand printed materials
- Travel to Watershed via water taxi requires traveling down a dock ramp and transferring to the boat (boarding boat requires stepping over/on and three steps down).

Pay Range: $23.58 – $23.58 per hour (this is a fixed rate position)
The wage range for this role accounts for a variety of factors used to make compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and professional training, and the organization’s internal compensation structure.
