Shannon Funchess of synth-goth duo Light Asylum has been described as “able to hypnotize and hold an audience in a state of bondage.” Often compared to Grace Jones in both sound and style, Funchess straddles underground electronic club music and radio culture. Her DJ set will be followed by a special outdoor screening of photographer Jean-Paul Goude’s Grace Jones concert video A One Man Show (1982), which combines rock ribaldry with avant-garde theater, tearing asunder racial and gender stereotypes.
Opening act Neon Music is a multimedia artist, musician, DJ, actor, and nightlife personality based in NYC. Lead singer and guitarist for queer-punk band Youthquake, Neon Music has pioneered trans visibility in the underground rock world and has recently released a new solo project and music video for their latest single ‘It’s A Long Way Down”
Presented in association with Dirty Looks.
