Position Title: Accounting Intern

Department: Finance

Reports to: Controller

Position Status: Part Time, Hourly Non-Exempt, At Will (temporary)

Work Schedule: 22.5 hours per week – 7.5 hours per day (onsite)
Number of Positions: One (1), starting July 2026 – October 2026

From the beginning of the Fall semester through October 2, 2026: Flexible schedule to accommodate class commitments (hours to be coordinated with the supervisor)

Overview: ICA is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to support the Finance team from July 6, 2026 through October 2, 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in accounting operations, accounts payable processes, and financial systems within a professional office environment.

The Accounting intern will work closely with members of the Finance team and gain exposure to day-to-day accounting processes and internal operations.

In this internship at the ICA, you can expect to gain:

  • Practical experience with accounting and accounts payable processes
  • Exposure to financial systems including Blackbaud NXT Financial Edge and Concur
  • Experience working in a nonprofit and arts organization environment and understanding how finance supports mission-driven programming and operations
  • Experience working in a collaborative professional environment

WORKING AT THE ICA:

  1. All ICA employees are required to reside in Massachusetts and within a commuting distance from our Seaport location as of their first day of work.
  2. This internship will require onsite presence from July until the fall College semester begins. Once the College semester begins, a hybrid schedule, at the manager’s discretion, will be provided to complete the internship term.

Responsibilities:

The Accounting Intern will assist with:

  • Setting up new vendors and updating vendor information in Blackbaud
  • Processing invoice requests and preparing weekly payment runs for approval
  • Responding to emails related to invoice payments and other accounts payable-related requests
  • Processing the monthly Concur file for corporate credit card transactions and employee reimbursements
  • Providing general administrative and operational support to the Finance team as needed

Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Possess mobility to work in an office setting and use office equipment; move about throughout the museum.
  • Ability to see, listen and talk for extended periods in person, over the telephone and computer, and understand printed materials
  • Prolonged periods of remaining stationary working on a computer, standing and/or moving about the office and museum.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling, keyboarding and gripping
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with staff, departments, and vendors.

Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour (this is a fixed rate position)
