Confused by contemporary art? Then this program is for you! Join us at the ICA for a fun, two-part, no-pressure, program designed for curious adults who aren’t afraid to ask, “What am I looking at?” and “Am I the only one that doesn’t get it?”
Hosted by friendly ICA staff, you’ll wander the galleries and sharpen your observations skills while exploring work by artists such as Rose B. Simpson, Yayoi Kusama and Andy Warhol — yes, that Andy Warhol. Then switch gears and take it all in from your seat at a live performance from the acclaimed New York-based Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company in the ICA’s waterfront theater.
Along the way you’ll have good conversations, meet new people, and hear zero art-speak. You’ll leave with fresh perspectives, new friends, and the confidence to walk into any ICA gallery and theater without feeling the need to immediately deploy an exit strategy during your next visit.
Spots are limited, so the atmosphere remains intimate, lively, and just a little irreverent. Register today to begin celebrating the ICA’s history of 90 years of championing contemporary art and artists!
Registration fee includes a theater performance ticket, gallery access, facilitation by an experienced educator, and special access to ICA staff, including John Andress, Bill T. Jones Director of Performing Arts.
Day 1: November 8 │ Visual Arts Experience
The Cohort should expect a few interactive activities and conversations with other participants and staff, and leave with increased comfort in the galleries and a few tools to approach new works of art.
Day 2: November 22 │ Performing Arts Experience
The Cohort will experience a performance by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company together! Participants should expect to meet with the ICA’s John Andress, the Bill T. Jones Director of Performing Arts (it’s even in his title!) beforehand to get a few pointers for viewing this work.
